A Fresh Start

If you’re coming to my blog, you may have noticed that I changed the header to Simply Sarah. Over the past few months, I’ve been finding ways to simplify my life so I could simply live out a life of love and freedom. That’s one reason I haven’t touched this space for months. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it anymore or if it was even worth my time to write and share my thoughts. (I also had a sweet baby that didn’t like to take naps or sleep during the night, so I hit my brain power limit early and often!)

Yet over the past few weeks, I have had the persistent desire to pull out my laptop and dust off the keys to start typing away again on my blog. God has been at work in my heart and in my life so much over the past two months and I want to start sharing some of the things I am learning once again with my readers…thanks for sticking with me by the way! This has been a season of re-learning how to live life as a mom, wife, friend, daughter, sister, child of the King. As I think about this upcoming year, I don’t want to miss the simple moments of life where God whispers in and shows me the beauty that He is unfolding in my life. Documenting these simple yet pivotal moments — whether they be from fruitful time spent in His Word, or watching my baby girl grow into a little lady, or living life with my husband or simply experiencing Him in the world around me — is what I want this space to be about.

Lent started this Wednesday and I joined with the She Reads Truth community in going through a study called Jesus Keep Me Near. I’m only three days in, but my heart is already being stirred and convicted. Lent is a time to quietly stop, hit the pause button on all the busyness around us and look inward and upward. It’s a time for me to remember again what Christ did for me through His death and resurrection, a time to repent of my waywardness, pride, and selfishness and focus on the work that Jesus did through His Life, death and resurrection. Should I do this every day and not just during Lent? Absolutely. But in all honesty, I don’t. I let my schedule and routine cloud my vision of Jesus. My prayer is that this Lent season is one where I hit pause (and hopefully stop button) on my Sarah-focused life and turn to Jesus to find my hope, my joy, my freedom and my love IN HIM.

If you’re interested in joining the She Reads Truth community in this study it’s not too late! Check it out today!

I pray that your weekend would be filled with lots of deep breaths and laughter.
