My Living Unplugged Recap: Where We Go from Here

As many of you may have noticed (or not) I stopped writing about living unplugged the last few entries (except for Rachel’s awesome post)! It’s not because I started watching television again, but because I ran out of ideas on this topic. Like I had said in a previous post, this idea had good intentions but not as much content. Or my pregnancy hormones trampled my creative juices…you can pick whichever excuse 🙂

I have truly enjoyed keeping the television off this month. The days felt full of more life and activity. I had time to write, clean, cook and connect. My husband and I were able to spend much needed quality time together to discuss future plans and connect during this busy, stressful month.

We have decided that we are not throwing the baby out with the bathwater! The television will stay in our home, but it won’t be as much of the centerpiece as it once was. We will still enjoy an episode or two every so often, but I think those nights will be fewer and farther between. I want to be more picky of the type of shows we watch. I want to only watch quality television that is well written and not filled with sex, language, and violence. The few times I’ve had the tv on for football games, I was amazed at how much the commercials affected my spirit. I’ve definitely become more sensitive to visual material.

And when our girls finally come home, I want to be very conscious of  how much and what they watch. There are so many other activities to do and see than to sit in front of the television.  I want G & M to be learning and exploring the new world around them, not the world in the television!

I’m so glad that I took the challenge this month to both live a life unplugged and to attempt writing on this blog every day for 31 days! I almost did it!

I’m looking forward to having some other friends share their stories on here next month and to take a little break from blogging as often. I will definitely be sharing more on my heart for adoption since November is Adoption Month. I’ll specifically cover international adoption, since that’s my experience, for anyone who may be interested.

Thank you for following along this month! I’m already brainstorming different ideas for next year’s challenge!
