He Stands with Us

I love She Reads Truth. Meeting some of the ladies who are behind this wonderful blog at the Influence Conference solidified my passion for their ministry. God has used their words to awaken my soul and speak words of life into broken areas of my heart. Yesterday morning’s She Reads Truth devotional was one of those moments.

I’m at a point in our adoption journey where I am just tired. I am weary of waiting. I am worn from always wondering if our paperwork is being overlooked and if this week will be the week we hear that the corrections have been made and we can move forward (we’ve walked 7 of those weeks). I’m weary of standing the test of this season.

Then this truth moved my soul.

Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers [and sisters!]. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. (James 1:16-18, ESV, emphasis + brackets mine

Sisters, our Father brought us forth in truth. He gives all the good gifts. He is the Father of Lights who does not change. Yes, trials will come. But as we’re standing the test, He stands with us. We are born of His truth and He walks with us down each long road. And when the walking’s done? When the trials have all ended? The crown of life His Son now wears will one day be ours, too. This waiting? It’s a gift.

My Heavenly Father is holding me so I can stand this grueling wait to hold my baby girls in my arms and to smell their sweet scent and hear their happy giggles.

He is revealing to me how His heart and arms LONG for  His children who are far from Him and how He patiently waits for us all to return back to His overflowing arms of grace.

Are you standing a trial today? Did you need this reminder that the Maker of the Heavens, our Heavenly Father, who brought us forth in truth and never changes will constantly stand by our side?

With those eyes and with that heart, we can see that everything that happens in our lives is a gift because it all brings us back to Jesus, whose love for us is greater than we could ever imagine.

  1. Bless you, girl. We have 2 adopted kiddos and I remember feeling like the weariness of the unknown would never wear off. Praying for endurance!!
