I’m not sure about you, but this week seemed to move at a snail’s pace. Maybe it’s because I’m so excited about heading to the Influence Conference next week or maybe it’s because I found myself laying on our couch all day, every day.

I’ve been pretty quiet these days on social media for a few reasons…one being that I’ve spent most of my days on the couch watching trashy tv because I’m so exhausted and the other, which is connected to my first reason…is  that I was afraid I’d spill the beans…

What beans do I have to spill?? Well let me tell you!

On August 21st, I realized that I was two weeks late (which is somewhat typical) but decided to confirm what I thought to be just a late period. Much to my surprise…there were TWO LINES!!

WHAT?!? Needless to say, I spent the first three weeks knowing about my pregnancy in a complete DAZE. I was also terrified. I still kind of am.

I’ve never maintained a pregnancy this long (10 weeks so far!) and even now I’m hesitant to share with the social media world because there are still many risks to my pregnancy, as we’ve recently found out. But I need your prayer, your encouragement, and your support…now more than ever.

You see, there is a strong possibility that I will deliver this sweet tiny twig (my name for the little guy..or gal) and bring home our girls all within a few short months. We will go from a married couple with no kids and two dogs to a married couple with a 3 year old, a 2 year old, a newborn AND two dogs in no time at all!! Talk about the fast track to a large family!!!

Thankfully, the nervousness and fear have started to fall away as I’ve continually poured my heart out to my Heavenly Father. He’s been ever faithful to remind me of His love, His nearness, and His grace. I wake up each morning with anxious thoughts of will this baby make it full term? If so, will we have enough money to prepare a nursery AND a toddler room (for two girls, mind you) AND pay for the rest of our adoption costs? Can I be a good mom to all three children when I don’t even know how to be a mom right now? And each morning, I lay on my back, close my eyes, breathe deeply and ask God to once again fill me with His peace. And I quote Isaiah 43: 1-2, a passage that has become my breathing prayer:

But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel  “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”

You may read this and be wondering if I’m even excited about this miracle that happened in my womb. Oh I am! So excited! This is something that I had resolved would never happen for our family. But God saw fit to do something else. I wrote the this vague post about what God has been doing in my heart since I’ve found out about my tiny twig (last name is Wood :)). I am so thankful that He saw it good to open my womb, even when it was at a time that doesn’t make sense to me!

We would greatly appreciate your prayers and thoughts! On the day before I leave for the conference, I have an appointment with a high risk pregnancy obstetrician to go over the risks of this pregnancy. We will get to hear and see our little twig again and I am praying praying praying that our little one is still doing well. Will you pray with me? Pray also that the doctors will know what steps will need to be taken to ensure a safe pregnancy and delivery.

I am always amazed at how God works through His plain and ordinary followers to show off His great glory. My prayer is that my small steps of faith in the uncertainty of life will make big impacts in the Kingdom.

  1. Sarah,

    Beautiful new space! {good work Jason!}

Such a well written post about life lately. I am thinking and praying a lot and know you will be an amazing mommy! I have no doubt this is God’s sweet gift to you and I am praying that you get to cherish that gift for a lifetime.

    Love you guys!

  2. I’ve never been to your site before but had to come over since I’ll be at Influence next week! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am 21 weeks pregnant with my third and I’m wondering how tired a big conference is going to make me! Hope to meet you while I’m there 🙂

I hear you on worrying about being tired during the conference! And I’ve got to adjust to a 3 hour time difference too!

  3. Oh my, I’m so thrilled for your family!! What an amazing blessing. 3 kiddos. God has a way with His timing, doesn’t He? 😉 I will most certainly be praying for you and your babe. And I know how you feel about not wanting to spill the beans too early. Because of our experience with pregnancy loss, we actually wait 20 weeks to make our announcements these days. And I know it drives our friends crazy.

I will be at Influence next week too. I’ll be looking for you, fellow desert dweller! I’m from Vegas. We’ve had a pretty fabulous monsoon season this year, right? Although you guys more than us. See you soon!

I am crying and I can’t stop!! How amazing! You are going to be great. Just love them and play with them with the spirit of a child. I am so happy for you! I will be praying!!!

  5. AHHH! I just got a chance to hop on your site. Sarah! Congratulations and we’ll be praying for you and this little tiny twig and your girls on their way home. xoxoxoxo.

  6. Sarah- I am so happy to hear that you are pregnant! There is nothing like welcoming the little life you created into your home and life. It makes you tired, but I spill over with love every time I look at my little miracle boy Logan. I cannot believe that he is over a week old already. We love him so much! I know how you are feeling about wondering if this pregnancy is going to last. I remember waking everyday hoping that we would make it passed 12 weeks. I think I held my breath for all that time. And, wow! To possibly having 3 kids in a small amount of time. I don’t know what that will be like, but I know with God by your side you will make it through. There will always be ups and downs. Again congratulations on all of your children. You are so blessed!
Take care and have a great time at the conference!

  7. Praying with you!!

  8. Stacy Frazer says:

Sorry got cut off…long story short you’re already a mother…you are already sacrificing, thinking all the time about what’s best for your children, etc. now to just get those babies in your arms! What a glorious day that will be!

  9. What a blessing! I’m praying for you and your family!

  10. This warms my heart Sarah! I am so excited for you and will pray that God takes care of you and this little twig 🙂 You will be an amazing mom!

  11. HOORAY!!! Congratulations Sarah (and Jason!)– what a blessing– mom to THREE! 🙂 God really does have a wonderful way of surprising us sometimes. I’m so happy for you! Love you!

  12. Congratulations Sarah! I will keep you in my prayers for a safe pregnancy. Something I am sure of though, if anyone can handle the challenge of so many life changing events at one time, it is you! You have a deep, true faith and an amazing support system. I will be thinking if you and Jsson in the coming months!

  13. Congratulations Sarah & Jason! Being a mommy is the best job you’ll ever have. And if you’re feeling unsure and nervous about how to be a mom…just take a good look at Sue Gravert! She’s one of the BEST! You probably already know this, but as you step into that role, you’ll see it more & more. And the older you get…the more you’ll realize how wise she is. Prayers for all of you, margie

  14. Amy Tessmer says:

Praying for you and so excited for you! God is amazing! You will be great parents and God will provide all you need.

  15. Sarah!!!! I am thrilled for you!! How exciting! Keeping you and your family in my prayers. Xoxoxo

  16. This same thing happened to my friends here in Iowa. They had a difficult time conceiving and then after making the decision to adopt 2 they got pregnant with twins! Life has been crazy in their house for the past month!!! God’s timing his perfect. So excited for you!

  17. Well goodness gracious! When it rains, it pours!
I have never had bio kids but I had 30 minutes notice for one kiddo and 4 hours for the other. The crazy becomes precious (just as soon as you’ve caught up on sleep!). I’m excited for you!!

    • I know right! One of my friends had about a 30 minute notice for one of their children as well. What a rush that must have been & a bit overwhelming! Thanks Emily!
